Federal Level elected legislators are suppose to look out for the best interest of our Country not cater to their campaign donor lobbyists turning legislation into garbage.

The Farm Bill would be a great place to start separating everything out. If something cannot stand alone in its own separate bill with very valid reason for taxpayer money to be spent, then it needs to be considered garbage and properly disposed. This would help eliminate redundant and similar programs budgeted for under different government agencies.

The dairy issue is a prime example of why commodity bills also need to be addressed. Legislators need to fix the base problem with dairy … not slap a band aid on the problem via the Farm Bill. Legislators have made big messes and they need to start cleaning them up vs. adding more to the problem.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8506174415259248380.post-68088227161907191862013-10-11T09:39:11.656-04:002013-10-11T09:39:11.656-04:00"Amen!""Amen!"Mark Gormanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11332234947703781883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8506174415259248380.post-82104861418383091932013-10-11T09:16:02.298-04:002013-10-11T09:16:02.298-04:00Thanks for posting Rev. If you just look, for example, at a listing of the cargo types and tonnages that passed through the harbor at Saint Louis, Missouri in these 2009 statistics (Sheet 62 here http://bit.ly/v4BOCx) you can see that the list is quite ubiquitous, and includes (among the long list of products) "Vehicles and Parts." It is a fiction in which I have a drug dealer and the main chacter living in Springfield Illinois.
I came up with the idea that the drug dealer could transport the drugs or stolen cars on barges from New Orleans to, is it Lock and Dam #12 near Hannibal?
Did you know that Abraham Lincoln navigated a flatboat from New Orleans to New Salem via theMissippi, Missouri and Sangamon Rivers?
My one question, although I have many, is could that be done, logistically? Has it been done? Is it only grain or are all kinds of commodities transported on the barges?
I am definetly going to visit the area this summer but I have a publishing goal set before I will get the chance to visit.
